In response to Mr Plowman from Woodingdean who complained about the price of parking in the Level (Letters, February 9), that area down to the Steyne suffers from the highest levels of traffic pollution in Brighton and exceeds statutory limits.
This means Brighton and Hove City Council has a legal obligation to reduce the level of pollution, hence the high charges.
So when we drive to that area, we are simply worsening the air pollution and this affects the more vulnerable members of community who have respiratory problems such as asthma and other illnesses.
Think about this next time you get in your car.
The price of your convenient trip into town is someone else's poor health.
