Our local councillors are elected to represent us, the people of Brighton and Hove, not to represent the interests of big developers such as Berkeley Homes.
They are elected to protect us and our neighbourhoods from the unrealistic and arrogant designs of architects such as Alan Philips.
I do hope the planning committee uses the mandate given to them by the people of Brighton and Hove to stop developers making money from the destruction of our neighbourhoods.
After all, if a 13-storey tower block is considered to be suitable for the old Caffyn's site, sitting in an unashamedly suburban, low-rise area, nowhere is safe.
