Appealing to electors' social conscience to vote in May - as Councillor Sue John did - is insufficient in itself.
I have already suggsted those who refuse to vote on three separate occasion should have the privilege revoked.
Further, there is no known explanation why we vote on a Thursday and I believe there is general support for voting on a Sunday.
In addition the political parties could well rouse us from our dogmatic slumbers on the day touring the streets with loudspeakers.
With barely half of us voting in a general election, democracy is placed in danger.
The Iraqi people shame half of us with their brave, resolute belief in self-determination.
