I have no axe to grind as I have never been caught on any form of speed camera but I noticed there is a new camera past the Rock Garden/ Edward Street traffic lights in Brighton.
Why has it been put there? Is there a history of recent accidents?
I have never seen one and I travel this road every day. Traffic can barely reach the speed limit at most times but it might catch a few late- night revellers.
I also notice that, from west to east, the camera is entirely obscured by a road sign. This is firmly against the sprit of high visibility cameras "installed to save lifes not to make money" .
I believe this camera to be an unwarranted device installed just to collect revenue. The lure of easy money extends to drug dealers, bank robbers and revenue cameras - there is no distinction, I'm afraid.
I'm not against speed cameras - they can be great life savers - but let's not over-milk the sacred cow. This one is all about money.
