A Government spokesman said: "At the moment the council tax is based on 1991 property values and obviously that doesn't really represent the property values for today in 2005" (The Argus, February 3).
Can the same Government spokesman explain why the increase of property values is not reflected in the current level of inheritance tax?
Surely, if we revalue council tax because of the higher value of our houses, the same should be done on the base inheritance tax limit.
