I was saddened to hear of the death of Tim McCoy on January 27. I was social secretary of the Supporters' Club in the Fifties and encountered Tim on many occasions whenever we had a supporters' function.
Tim, with Glen Wilson, Tommy Bisset and Frankie Howard, always attended our dos. In those days the players were very good at mixing with supporters.
After he left the Albion, our paths crossed again when he was working for Hoover. We bought a cleaner from him and became quite friendly. He used to pop in for a cup of tea when passing and lived in Elm Grove, then I think he lived in Woodingdean.
I was involved with him again when he was manager of Moulsecoomb Rovers and was second-team manager. Tim was always available for a chat and, although I hadn't seen him for a number of years, I still remember what a great player and man he was.
Rest in peace, Tim.
