From intimate duets to provocative and flirtatious gipsy dances infused with energy, this was sexy stuff and the audience was spellbound.

The movement was satisfyingly simple and clean, fluid and graceful. Fleeting moments when the dancers departed from their individual steps to unite - each tracing the same pathway through the air, limbs outstretched and bodies taut - were blissful.

The third piece, Gypsy Mixture, was undoubtedly the best and Hastings-born Jonathan Goddard shone.

He burst on to the stage and hovered in mid-air as if possessed by the fiery rhythms accompanying him, before dropping back down to earth to perform a series of jaunty steps.

This performance was accessible, fun and infused with energy - a rare treat for which the dancers gained rapturous applause.
