I had to visit a friend in Centurion Road, Brighton, last Saturday morning and needed to use my car.
When it came time to leave, I found I had to wait for a short while as the refuse collection truck was in the road.
Centurion Road is very narrow so passing the truck was not an option and it is one way, so I couldn't turn round. It was extremely gratifying to see how the refuse operatives dealt with the situation.
I knew they had their job to do and they knew I was waiting and it took just a few minutes for them to clear what turned out to be a very extensive amount of refuse.
I congratulate the crew on their efficient handling of the situation.
As a ward councillor I receive phone calls and emails from residents who have experienced problems relating to the collection of domestic refuse.
I know it has not been easy for Cityclean over the past year or more but in the majority of cases things seem to be working out well.
Collections of both refuse and recyclable materials in my ward are running smoothly with just a few exceptions which are normally rectified by a phone call or email from myself to Cityclean.
