Paramedic motorcycles have always struck me as a brilliant idea indicative of imaginative and forward-looking management.
They allow medical treatment to be brought to the scene of an accident or emergency without otherwise inevitable delays caused by traffic congestion.
They can also be used to bring help to patients in pedestrianised areas where cars and ambulances cannot reach.
When people are seriously injured or suffer incidents such as heart attacks, every second is precious and motorcycle paramedics have probably saved dozens of lives in Brighton alone.
The Sussex Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "The changes are about targeting the bikes to make the best use of them to meet the needs of our patients,"
This is bizarre - how can taking them off the road make the best use of them? As ambulances cost more to keep on the road than a motorcycle, this particular "economy" is costing money.
