A delegation of 100 tourism chiefs gathered in Eastbourne to discuss how to attract more visitors to the South-East.
Key decision-makers from Kent to Dorset attended the Magnetic South conference at the town's Grand Hotel on the seafront.
The focus of the meeting was how to make the most of the galleries and museums which make the South-East the most culturally vibrant region in the UK.
It has been estimated more than five million tourists add £2.4 billion to the Sussex economy each year, with £360 million going to Brighton and Hove.
A typical visitor to the city, with attractions such as the refurbished Dome theatre, spends £172.
