I voted against fencing the Tye because I was concerned at what else it would bring. Now it seems I was correct.

The Tye has been a big part of my family's life over the years - my children have ridden horses and bikes all over it - and we have friends in the village so the track from Telscombe Road into the village is well trodden.

I was delighted when we bought the Tye - it was ours forever. I am all in favour of the environment and the need to look after our open spaces but everyone should have been catered for on the Tye.

We keep being told it's not "our park", it's a "working farm". We have never thought of it as such and very much resent it has become just another farmer's field with the restrictions that brings.

All this upset could have been avoided had the council consulted more closely with the people who actually use the Tye.

We love our space and want the best for it but all we have at the moment are poorly-installed cattle grids and gates and mountains of chalk that are not at all people-, bike-, dog- or horse-friendly and very difficult to use. Also, villagers are now cut off from Telscombe Cliffs, as only a few keys to the vehicle gates have been issued.
