Albion manager Mark McGhee wants to make his team tougher to beat at Withdean.

The Seagulls have lost five of their nine home matches in the Championship as they prepare for Saturday's visit by Burnley.

McGhee switched to a 3-5-2 formation for last Saturday's unexpected 1-0 win at West Ham but his options against Burnley are complicated by suspensions for captain Danny Cullip and top scorer Adam Virgo.

"Whether we are away at West Ham or at home against Burnley it's no different really," McGhee said today. "We are the underdog and we have got to set ourselves up in a way which makes us hard to beat.

"That could require us to play the same way at home and I think we passed it well enough and kept the ball well enough at times last Saturday to build on that.

"Losing Danny and Virgs doesn't exactly make it easy, but we can develop the way we played at West Ham into a more positive style. We can work not just on the defending but making ourselves attack better."

A third home victory would move Albion above Burnley and further away from the relegation zone. "The big move you make is when you win two or three in a row," McGhee said. "That is easier said than done.

"Burnley's financial situation and scope for changing things is similar to us, but they have been in this division for some time and have players with a lot of experience at this level. We're still learning, so in that sense they are still ahead of us."

Albion are planning a red card write-up in Saturday's programme in support of the campaign being waged by fans of crisis-torn Wrexham.

Press officer Paul Camillin said: "It will be a red page with white type, so if you hold it up it will look from a distance like a red card."
