I was very pleased to read that Conservative councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn, leader of the opposition group, would not support legal brothels (The Argus, November 9).
How demeaning this trade is to women.
Men are the guilty parties in encouraging women to sell their bodies instead of their brains.
I am sure these women could find better use for their beauty and talents if they were given more encouragement and better pay in other jobs. No woman should have to sell herself in order to live or even to keep her family.
These women need help, not condemnation, but legalising brothels is not the way to help them and will only encourage men to seek their services more often.
Please give these women back their dignity and show them some respect.
