I agree with Mrs Hazel Vane regarding pedestrians walking in the cycle lanes on the seafront (Letters, November 11).

I enjoyed a spin on my old bicycle for many years along the seafront lanes and hope to do so again. There should be "No Pedestrians" signs at various points along the cycle lanes.

I, like Mrs Vane, often had to use my cycle bell, as many folk refused to walk on the footpath.

Loose dogs were also a hazard, often bringing abuse from the animal owners when asked to leave the cycle lane clear.

I was a trained dancer in my youth so I have always loved to take gentle exercise. Cycling is excellent and indeed should be promoted as this country has a very high incidence of heart attack victims. I have visited many European capital cities and most provide good cycle lanes, Amsterdam being the home of the cycling family - no wonder the Dutch seem so cheerful.

I saw folk happily cycling through the centre of Munich in Germany as well - all very orderly - so why can't cyclists have the same rights in Brighton and Hove?
