In his article (The Argus, November 9), Ivor Caplin states that the electorate will choose between Michael Howard and Tony Blair.

What about Charles Kennedy, as the Liberal Democrats are proving to be a viable alternative? The Green Party is not cowering in the corner either, and there is every hope that Parliament might be hung.

It was worrying to hear Michael Howard say he would turn away an asylum seeker, irrespective of whether or not they were returning to be tortured and killed.

He also said he would ally himself with the 44th president of the United States of America.

This is a man who has broken international law many times in the state of Texas - a Bible in one hand and the other ready to press the button on the electric chair and intent on warmongering.

For those against the war in Iraq, neither the Conservative nor the Labour Party can be an option.

I am totally against capital punishment but I hope the next Parliament is hung.

Then we will not have one person puffing themself up in a presidential style refusing to have a referendum. People say they do not want to be ruled by Brussels but nor do we want to be the 51st state of America.
