Further to your letters about the health service (October 25), my husband has received a notification of 28 weeks for "imaging".

During 20 years of care for a heart condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, he suffered a stroke in March and lost his speech.

After five hours in A&E, we never saw a doctor, although the department was half empty. We came home.

We had to pay for speech therapy but now, after all these months, he has been seen at Brighton General for all his stroke complications.

So that is seven months of no treatment followed by 28 weeks' wait for ultra sound etc.

What sort of care is that? When I contacted my MP he told me to write to the Patients' Advocate.

I had already done that on the first day after my husband's stroke.

We are now being inundated with letters and appointments in duplicate and triplicate for some mythical time in the future.

I do not think we will survive until then and I have a sneaking suspicion that is what they hope.
