We are told in the introduction of the leaflet entitled "City Councillors" that Brighton and Hove City Councillors have a real commitment to making life better for the people living and working in the city.

We also see that one of the priorities that is guiding all councillors' work over the next five years is "liveability" (improving the quality of life in the city).

In addition, we note that the work of the council is guided by these main principles:

2, Providing high-quality, cost-effective service

3, Providing equal access to services

4, A belief in local democracy

5, Being accountable

6, Investing in the future

With this in mind, we are sure councillors will be keen to know about and support a new group called No Inappropriate Development, whose aim is to ensure that development in the city is balanced, avoids the inappropriate demolition of good family homes, retains the essential character of the area in which it is placed and takes full account of the infrastructure and associated services.

It is important to emphasise that the group has no political affiliations. We would appreciate it if all

councillors could tell us where they stand in relation to proposals by developers to knock down good

family homes and replace them with blocks of flats and whether they feel they are able to support the aim of this group.

We are having a meeting for residents at 10am on Saturday, November 13, at Davigdor School, Somerhill Road, Hove, to which councillors are cordially invited.
