So you think you know the secrets of Brighton and Hove?

Your knowledge of its his tory, celebrities, streets and buildings can be put to the test with the latest Brighton and Hove-themed board game.

Are You Streetwise?, a cross between Trivial Pursuit and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, is aimed at local people who think they know everything about their city.

Questions include identifying famous people buried in local cemeteries and how much it cost to build the West Pier.

Selecting the correct answer from a possible four allows you to progress through the game.

Created by Ian McAdam and his partner Anna Cullum after hours of research, it was produced on the back of the successful launch of a German version.

Ian's former employer William Record, who devised the game in Germany, asked them to put an English version together.

Ian said: "William made his money in watercoolers when I worked for him and he wanted to do something worthwhile so 50 per cent of sales go to charity.

"We chose Brighton as the best city to start in because it seems to have a lot of people living in it who are extremely proud of where they live and know a lot about it.

"I love Brighton and visit frequently because my brother lives there.

"It seemed the ideal place to pilot the game."

Ian and Anna, who live near Greenwich in London, rifled through history books, visited local libraries and delved into literature and gossip columns to come up with 400 brain-teasing questions.

It is suitable for a group of between four and 12 and each game should last about 40 minutes.

Ian said: "If it goes well we want to launch it in other cities such as Bristol, Edinburgh and maybe Oxford and Cambridge.

"We decided London was too big and transient.

"We hope people are proud we chose to launch the game in Brighton."

Are You Streetwise? is £25 and available in Brighton at Borders in Churchill Square, City Books in Western Road, the Royal Pavilion bookshop as well as smaller shops such as Custard, Pussy, Rapid Eye Movement and Malarky in the Lanes and North Laine.

Fifty per cent of the profits will go to Sussex Beacon, a charity chosen by Mr Record, which provides treatment and care for sufferers of HIV and AIDS.
