Lifelong Albion fan Danny O'Leary is having a ball over Falmer.

We asked you to suggest a name for the Seagulls' proposed new home.

Danny came up with the winning entry, The Des Res Stadium.

The 35-year-old freelance writer from Hove said: "This is because the new Falmer stadium would obviously be a desirable residence for all that visit.

"It also incorporates the name of one of Albion's best known fans, Des Lynam."

Big-hearted Danny, a former Albion youth team player, has donated his prize, a £75 Mitre match ball supplied by David Rose Sports, to the cash-strapped club.

It will be autographed by Des and the players and auctioned as part of Albion's Alive and Kicking' appeal to raise £2 million from supporters.

Danny pipped Richard Tipple for the prize. His topical suggestion, bearing in mind Albion are at Sunderland on Saturday, was The Stadium of Knight, in recognition of the contribution made to the Seagulls by chairman Dick Knight.

Paul Hendy reckons the toilets at Falmer should be named after Bill Archer and David Bellotti, Albion's loathed former chairman and chief executive.

"I think it would be quite good to have fans relieving themselves in areas dedicated to our old boardroom members," Hendy said.

Other ideas included The Seagulls Stadium (Peadar Grealish), The Fans United Stadium (Nick Probin) and The Storer Stadium (Tim Ayling) after the player who scored the last goal at the Goldstone.

Mark Davies suggested The Amex, sponsored by American Express. "I'm sure they would be pleased to put something back into the county," he said.

The last tongue-in-cheek word goes to Tony Kybett, from Southwick, who put forward The Prescott Stadium. "After all, Walsall have the Bescot Stadium," he said. "Can we tell him before the outcome of the public enquiry? It might just swing it!"
