Energy minister Mike O'Brien visited a Sussex company leading the race to develop revolutionary fuel cell technology which will generate clean, economic power.

He paid tribute to the work being carried out at Ceres Power in Haslett Avenue, Crawley.

He said: "Ceres is at the forefront in the race to make fuel cells a commercially viable technology which has the potential to help address the problem of climate change."

Ceres Power has secured about £10 million from the Government and major financial institutions to commercialise its technology.

Chief executive Peter Bance said potential uses for the fuel cells included residential units, back-up generators and devices for powering telecoms base stations and construction sites.
