Awkward sex, bizarre porn, relationship traumas and family strife - no one could claim that Ed Byrne's brand of comedy is anything approaching original.
Touching on every subject which makes the everyman funny man so popular, the amiable Irishman rises above the ranks of workaday comic simply because he is so good at what he does.
Easily distinguishable from the average comedy club Joes who make their bread by spouting forth on all things quirky, Byrne's witty observations, easygoing style and expert blarney-fuelled repartee make him a comedian's comedian who is accessible to all.
Smoking like a chimney and ranting about everything that popped into his head, from rude and stupid people to the ostentatious air conditioning, there may not have been anything ground-breaking in Byrne's show but who cares when you can have a guaranteed 60-minute belly laugh instead?
