Albion manager Mark McGhee today pledged not to be panicked by his team's pointless plight in the Coca-Cola Championship.

The Seagulls are bottom after two games following Tuesday's 2-0 home defeat by Plymouth, but McGhee insists the slow start is not unexpected.

"We would like to win as soon as possible but I am not going to be fazed by it," he said.

"We know we have got work to do and a lot to learn but we believe we've got a pool of players that can improve.

"It's no surprise to me that we've lost the two games, although I hoped we'd do better than that and at Reading on Saturday I think we deserved a little better than that, but it's no surprise given what we've done.

"We've re-shaped the team, we are playing in a slightly different way, we're trying things and we've got to learn things. There will be hiccups along the way until we get it right."

Leon Knight has been joined on the banned list by Dan Harding for Saturday's home game against Coventry and McGhee is warning there is no instant cure to injury-hit Albion's early problems.

"We are quite realistic," he said. "We are learning about the players and the new players in particular.

"They have still got to be integrated. We have still got to establish a way of playing that suits them and will get us results. It's up to me and my staff to do that.

"It will still be the same group of players that I have on Saturday. We still won't have a second striker of any experience available to us.

"We will go out and try again. If we don't win then we will go out in the next game and try again."
