Why will the Sussex Police flag be removed from Brighton Police station during the Pride celebration next month (The Argus, July 8).

I have nothing against gay and lesbian people, even those in the Sussex police, but isn't this taking things too far? Aren't the gay officers also part of Sussex police or do they want to have a separate police force?

I would hope the heterosexual members of the Sussex Police can soon have their own flag, flying it proudly outside the Brighton Police station or from any other Sussex police stations.

I find it hard to believe the Sussex Police Federation is backing the removal of the flag.

Is it true the force's flag will stop gay people from coming to the police station to report crimes against them and any other type of complaint? This is really political correctness going over the top.

I am sure being a heterosexual is making me into a minority group.

All I can ask is will the chief constable reconsider the removal of the Sussex police flag or, failing that, don't let's have any of this nonsense next year.
