Forest Row ace Sean Yates won the top individual honours in the Axiom ten-mile time trial in Hampshire.

The former Tour de France stage winner clocked 19min.53sec and, backed by his brother Chris and Hastings rider Peter Tadros, also led East Sussex-based In Gear to a convincing victory in the team event.

Tadros claimed top place on the podium in the Axiom club's 25-mile open event the following day.

He recorded 53min.8sec and this time, with South African In Gear team-mates James Louter and Gary Flint, helped In Gear to another team success.

To crown an outstanding weekend for In Gear, Seaford rider Dave Pollard won a bronze medal in the Southern Counties 50-mile Championship near Horsham.

The winner was Keith Coffey (Dee CC) in 1hr.54min.55sec and Pollard recorded 1hr.56min. 51sec.

Yates has been managing the CSC team in races abroad but has earned a break and will not be involved in this year's Tour de France.

He will resume his duties after the Tour and in the meantime will be able to race in some top events.

He will lead an In Gear team in Sunday's national 50km team time trial championship. GS Stella, Eastbourne Rovers, East Grinstead and VC Etoile also compete.

Headquarters is North Hall at Loxwood in West Sussex and the course includes Chiddingfold, Northchapel and Wisborough Green. The teams will start between 6.15-8.45am.
