Albion are offering contract extensions to their top two players.

The Seagulls want captain Danny Cullip and the prolific Leon Knight to stay with them beyond the end of next season.

The offers form part of a review of players with a year left on their existing deals.

Manager Mark McGhee, just back from a holiday in America, revealed: "Danny and Leon are stand-outs. Those two are slightly different from the others.

"Danny is obviously very important to the team and the club and will be offered an extension.

"I left the chairman (Dick Knight) to initiate discussions with Leon's agents."

Cullip, 28, has been a tower of strength at the heart of the defence for Albion since they signed him from Brentford five seasons ago.

He was outstanding in the final of the play-offs against Bristol City in Cardiff last month, where Knight's late penalty clinched promotion.

That was the 27th goal of Knight's debut season with the Seagulls following a free transfer move from Chelsea last August.

Both Cullip and Knight, 21, were named by their fellow pros in the PFA's Second Division team of the year.

Cullip's veteran partner Guy Butters, voted player of the season by supporters, has confirmed to the club he will be signing the new one-year contract offered to him.
