Eastbourne stretched their unbeaten run to three matches when they shared the points in an exciting 45-45 draw at Swindon last night.

Eagles trailed for most of the match but hit back to take the lead with three heats to go.

Going into the final race, however, the scores were all square, and Swindon had to rely on their main man, Leigh Adams, to deny the visitors victory.

Adams roared home to complete a 15-point maximum ahead of Nicki Pedersen and David Norris.

All three are involved in Saturday night's British Grand Prix.

Pedersen and Norris had been in top form throughout the match, but the surprise package for Eagles was Peter Ljung.

After coming last in heat one, Ljung won his three other races to complete his best effort of the season.

Eagles were six points down after only two races with Adams winning the first and Swindon taking a 5-1 through reserves David Ruud and Oliver Allen.

Ruud followed up with a shock win over Norris and Adam Shields in the next, but Eagles cut the arrears in heat five with a 4-2 by Ljung and Kylmakorpi.

Ruud was ruled out of the rest of the meeting after sustaining an ankle injury in a heat-eight crash involving Ulrich Ostergaard, who was excluded.

Seven out of eight heats were shared until Eagles snatched a 5-1 in heat 11 with Ljung completing a hat-trick of wins and Kylmakorpi second.

That levelled the scores at 33-33, and a 4-2 in the next by Norris and Ostergaard put Eastbourne in front.

The lead was shortlived, however, with Adams scoring the second of his three wins over Pedersen in heat 13 and Steve Johnston getting third place in front of Kylmakorpi.

Shields then beat Andy Smith and Allen to set up a last-heat nailbiter.

Swindon: Leigh Adams 15, Steve Johnston 8, Oliver Allen 7, Andy Smith 7, David Ruud 6, Glenn Cunningham 2.

Eastbourne: Nicki Pedersen 12, David Norris 9, Peter Ljung 9, Adam Shields 7, Joonas Kylmakorpi 5, Ulrich Ostergaard 2, Michael Coles 1.
