While everybody is interested in the news of the Second World War, remember the women at home who had to do men's jobs - fire watching at night and sleeping in air raid shelters, not knowing whether they would find their houses had been bombed, their children taken away from them and sent to safer places.

Elderly people were respected then but not now. Now, we are pushed about in buses and are afraid of getting mugged.

The upheaval of the post office closures that is causing a lot of worry for the elderly is the last straw. Whoever brought in the law should be ashamed.
