Albion play-off hero Adam Virgo has given big brother James the perfect anniversary present - two tickets for Sunday's big match in Cardiff.

Former Seagulls defender James will celebrate a year of marriage to wife Kate with seats side by side for the final against Bristol City at the Millennium Stadium.

Bob Virgo, the brothers' dad, revealed: "It is James and Kate's first wedding anniversary on the 30th, so they are staying on Saturday night at their honeymoon hotel in Sussex and then making their way to Cardiff.

"Adam has two complimentary tickets for the game and he has given them to James and Kate as an anniversary present, which I think is great. Kate is also expecting in November."

Rightback Adam's gesture comes a week after he reduced widowed Bob to tears with a last-gasp equaliser and penalty in the shoot-out in the second leg of the semi-final against Swindon at Withdean.

Adam celebrated his central role in Albion's dramatic triumph with a hug for Bob, whose wife Audrey died of a heart attack in 1996 aged 47.

"He just hugged me and I cried my eyes out," Bob said. "We were soaking wet, so nobody knew if it was the rain or tears, but I can assure you it was tears.

"We buried Audrey on May 20th, so it was the eighth anniversary of her burial. I didn't tell Adam that but I knew it and when we were hugging I said to him 'This is for mum'. It will live with me forever."

Bob, 57, will be at the Millennium Stadium with Den Shepherd, who sponsors Adam's kit, and a few other friends including Adam's old maths teacher.

"I could not go through what happened at Withdean very often," Bob said. "Let's face it, we played terribly but that's football.

"I've got a feeling we are going to sneak it. We have got comradeship and character and that never-say-die attitude which Mark McGhee has really drummed into the team."
