Regarding the medical surgery plan for Carden Park in Brighton (The Argus, April 23), apparently 750sq metres will be taken up by building it.

Why is it being built partly on a public park?

It took years to get a community centre in the park and a small play area for the children. Now, once again, the recreation area is being cut.

The plans assume the play area is redundant. It certainly is not.

They also say the football pitch will not be affected - it most certainly will if it is moved nearer the road. We would like to see a new surgery but why take our park?

Ladies Mile Road is a much better option or even the flat ground north of the flats. There is room for further expansion on either site.

We at Hollingbury do not get the hand-outs in cash that other estates do. We pay our dues so we are entitled to some consideration, not the extremely cavalier attitude we are getting from Brighton and Hove City Council and the NHS.
