Gardner Arts Centre, Falmer, Wednesday-Saturday May 19-22

Nineteen years on from his nine-hour epic The Mahabharata, which shook perceptions of live performance, comes this new work from enigmatic and controversial director Peter Brook.

Inspired by the last volume of the 5,000-year-old Sanskrit text La Mort De Krishna (The Death Of Krishna), it recounts the story of Krishna coming to Earth to broker peace between warring parties, only to die.

Exploring the wisdom and insight found in ancient Hindu texts, this innovative show makes ancient philosophy relevant to our contemporary world.

Performed in French by Maurice Benichou with English subtitles.

Wed, May 19 to Sat, May 22, 8pm, £16/£14, 01273 709709.
