During the past few weeks I have noticed a growing number of window posters that say "Save Hove Library".

Is it the books or the building they want to save?

All the information I have seen is not about the closure of Hove Library but its relocation or redevelopment.

Most of the arguments being put forward are about the building and its use.

EU regulations now require that all public buildings must have access for disabled persons and without proper access these buildings cannot be used.

As a person who regularly takes my elderly mother to the library in Church Road, I find it cramped and restricted.

If she ever wished to visit the reference area or try to use the internet and computers, she would not be able to do so as these are only available to the those who can climb stairs.

What the councillors are looking to do is improve the library facilities, even if this means moving to the old Town Hall building where the facilities can be accessed by everyone on a single level and even if this means finding another use for the current building.

Those who are running the "Save Hove Library" campaign should be honest.

It is not "Save Hove Library" but "Save the building in Church Road from use as anything other than a library".

Would there be the same hue and cry if there were similar proposals for the library in Old Shoreham Road?
