So, Sussex Police want 150 more Community Support Officers and a new civilian crime recording unit.
I'm not surprised the announcement has been greeted with disdain by the Police Federation, which says extra money should be spent on more beat officers.
The community wants to see more police patrolling the streets, not community officers who don't have the same powers.
