Adam Beere bagged a hat-trick as Chichester ended a disappointing first half of the season on a high.

Beere's treble helped the bottom side to a 3-2 victory over second placed Spencer (Wandsworth) in South Premier division one.

Skipper Sam Beere, Adam's younger brother, said: "It was a tough game but we deserved to win.

"We had more chances than them. Their keeper made some good saves and also kept out a flick from Adam.

"Another plus point was we didn't concede any short corners at all."

Adam Beere opened the scoring with a drag flick from a short corner only for the hosts to reply instantly.

In the second half Sam Beere set up his brother to make it 2-1 but Spencer fought back again. However, the contest was decided with ten minutes to go with another excellent finish.

Richard Blakesley, Tom Brixey and Andy Brown also had fine games while Sam Beere and Jack Lerwill did well.

In division two, Brighton went second in the table after winning an amazing game 5-4 against Staines, who had started the day in second spot.

Brighton led 3-0 at half time thanks to goals from Craig Carolan, Kevin Brown and Mike Botha and the match appeared to be over when Dave Delea made it 4-0. However, the home side scored four goals, including three in a crazy six-minute spell, to level the scores, with the equaliser coming six minutes from time.

Brighton snatched victory with three minutes left when Carolan's short corner strike was saved and Pietro Attala pounced.

Brighton skipper Carlo Missirian said: "Even though we lost the plot a bit, the character of the side came through."
