I dispute the fact that Harold II is the only monarch since Edward the Confessor whose final resting place is unknown (The Argus, December 11).

I always understood this was the case with Richard III, whose body was hacked to pieces after Bosworth and flung in a river.

Strangely enough, I recently visited Harold's grave at Waltham Abbey.

It is quite clearly marked and I don't remember there being any question of its authenticity but can't be sure.
