Regarding your article "Workers can't afford homes" (The Argus, November 19), the widening gap between earnings and house prices in Brighton and Hove is symptomatic of this Government's ill-thought out and unsustainable regional policy of relying on the South-East being the UK's economic powerhouse.

You are right to warn that its impact is felt most keenly among key public sector workers such as nurses and teachers though the figures show even those who earn higher than average are being priced out of Brighton and Hove's housing market.
