Albion have turned down a cheeky attempt by former boss Peter Taylor to pinch goalkeeper Michel Kuipers on a free transfer to Hull.

The Seagulls are holding out for a fee for Kuipers, who has lost out to Ben Roberts in the battle to be No.1, although any move may be put on hold after Kuipers suffered minor head injuries in a car accident on his way to training today.

Manager Mark McGhee had talks with chairman Dick Knight yesterday over the future of Albion's Dutch custodian and they are determined to get a fair price for him.

McGhee said: "We both agree that it's right we require a fee for Michel.

"So far the clubs have not agreed a fee. The offer they have made in a sense is no offer, because it is without any fee.

"From our point of view that is totally unsatisfactory. Michel is a good goalkeeper. He is not in the team at the moment, but he has got another 18 months on his contract."
