Worthing returned to the top of the Kent/Sussex Regional League after a 4-1 win at home to bottom side Gillingham Anchorians.

Dan Lock gave Worthing a first half lead only for the visitors to level after the break.

However, further goals from Dan Lock, Bryan Lock and Mark Minchell wrapped up victory for Worthing.

Joint skipper John Massie said: "We didn't play particularly well but in spells we were good and that is where we got the goals."

Worthing climbed above Sevenoaks, who surprisingly lost 4-3 away to Horsham.

Goals from Stuart Donaldson, Ian Brown and Robin Sims, with his first of the season, helped Horsham into a 3-1 half time lead.

Brown stretched the advantage after the interval and, although the leaders hit back twice, Horsham held on.

Goalkeeper Neil Burlinson said: "Sevenoaks had two short corners after the final whistle, the second of which was a drag flick which Andy Hartley cleared off the line.

"It is a close league. The top eight sides are separated by five points and there is a chance for everybody against everybody else.

"It shows when we put our minds to it we can beat teams like Sevenoaks."

Mid Sussex slipped to the bottom of the table after losing 7-3 away to Tunbridge Wells. The result meant Gillingham moved above them on goal difference despite their defeat at Worthing.

In Kent/Sussex division one, leaders Eastbourne sent out a chilling message to any pretenders for their crown as they crushed second placed Kings College London 10-1 away from home.

Kevin Williams led the way with four goals, namesake Dan Williams chipped in with a hat-trick while Matt Copping scored twice and Dom Barnes also found the net.

Captain Flo Pietzsch said: "It was probably the best we have played this season. We scored four times in the first seven minutes and they didn't know what had hit them."

South Saxons ran out 3-1 winners at home to Crawley thanks to goals from Paddy Cornish (two) and Dan Burnett. Keith Frimley replied from a short corner.

Crawley captain Gary Thornton said: "Despite our losing run I am still confident we can turn this around."

Lee Wiles scored twice and set up the other two for Jamie Hendrix and Rob Lowe as Southwick beat Cliftonville 4-1.

Ian Easton scored for Crowborough as they went down 4-1 at Marden Russets.
