An Eastbourne man is being held in Thailand after being found with more than 100 fake passports.
James Wilson from Eastbourne was arrested at Bangkok airport on Monday after the French passports were discovered in his luggage.
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said the British Embassy had been informed of Mr Wilson's arrest.
She said: "We can confirm that a British National has been arrested in connection with fake passports and our consulate staff are assisting with the matter."
Police suspect the passports were to be sold after being handed to a contact in Belgium.
