Horsham crashed to defeat at home to Slough Town despite having most of the possession and creating a hatful of chances.

Slough were deadly in front of goal but the Hornets seemed incapable of getting the ball into the net.

Slough took a two-goal interval lead following two Freddie Hyatt corners.

The first was headed home by Ian Hodge and the second drilled in from 20 yards by Darron Wilkinson.

Steffan Ball, Ahmet Suleymanoglu, Junior Adeniyi and Lee Carney all missed good openings for the home side and the pattern continued after the interval with Ball missing from close range and Michael Murphy heading a Rhod Davis effort off the line.

Horsham finally found the net in the 63rd minute when Suleymanoglu crashed home a 20-yarder off the post.

Having fought their way back into the game, Horsham then threw away a goal within a minute when Tony Boot ended a move he had begun by stabbing the ball past goalkeeper Luke Burton from 20 yards.

Adeniyi had a shot headed off the line, Suleymanoglu shot across the face of the goal and Ball and Richard Davies both missed when they had been played through before Slough added a fourth in the sixth minute of injury time.

Hyatt stole possession off defender Eddie French and took his time before slipping the ball past Burton.

Horsham boss John Maggs said: "We gave two goals away against one of the best teams in the division, clawed our way back into the game, and then gave more goals away.

"They've earned one goal. Our defending was atrocious and we could not put the ball into the net."
