I read with great enthusiasm of architect Alan Phillips' dream for a pleasure island for Brighton and Hove (The Argus, November 11).
The project would be a great boost for tourism.
The £500 million could be funded by pension funds and perhaps Russian sources would show interest.
There is no point in residents wasting their time and energy over Alan Phillips' back-of-an-envelope plan for a Pleasure Island.
We are told "all pebbles would be removed from the beaches between Shoreham and Brighton to create a reef to protect the man-made structure".
But pebbles are there to prevent erosion of the shoreline.
If Mr Phillips had his way, the island would soon be further away than he realises.
