London Underground (LU) passengers face disruption because of a 24-hour strike by drivers on two Tube lines in protest at the sacking of a colleague.

The Hammersmith and City and Circle Lines walk-out was due to start at 9.30pm last night.

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union are taking action following the dismissal of a driver who was seen coming out of a sports centre while he was off work on sick leave.

LU said it would try to run as full a service as possible.
