A power company which came up with an eco-friendly way to produce electricity has scooped a prestigious innovation award.
Crawley-based Ceres Power was the overall winner of the Carbon Trust Innovation Awards 2003 which took entries from across the UK.
The company was named the low carbon innovator of the year and winner of the individual and small business category at an awards ceremony in London.
Ceres Power won against stiff competition, including Leeds City Council and Edinburgh-based Ocean Power Delivery.
The company develops and supplies fuel cells which produce heat and electricity using hydrogen and other hydrocarbon fuels.
The unique fuel cell impressed the judges as a design with considerable commercial potential for use in the home and small businesses.
