Gavin Geddes hit a second half equaliser as Worthing had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw with division one south rivals Horsham.

Horsham were good value for their interval lead secured by Ahmet Suleymanoglu just before the break.

But Rebels, unbeaten at Woodside Road for the last ten weeks, came out firing and should have taken all three points after Geddes levelled on 59 minutes against his former club.

The one-time Albion striker pounced to fire his 11th of the season from the inside right position after an inch perfect pass from Frenchman Florian Mateos.

Striker Sam Francis, who came on for Richard Carter for the second half, went close from a Mateos pass before Mark Pulling almost put Rebels ahead.

Pulling smacked a post from 18 yards and he was denied by the woodwork again four minutes later when, as Horsham lived dangerously, he struck the bar and the rebound came to Mateos who was denied by a post.

Worthing continued to ask searching questions as they surged forward and Geddes was off target after seizing on a free-kick from Chris Dicker.

Top scorer Francis should have clinched it for Alan Pook's men five minutes from time when he failed to hit the target after a through ball from Ben Carrington.

Horsham goalkeeper Luke Burton, who proved suspect at times while with Worthing last season, had a sound game for the visitors who were best served by goalscorer Suleymanoglu.

It was no surprise when the Horsham man broke the deadlock 45 seconds from the break with an opportunist strike.

Suleymanoglu was perfectly placed to tuck the ball home from six yards after Carlo Castrechino was off target following a corner on the left by Lee Carney.

Lewes opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the table after a comfortable 4-0 success at Epsom and Ewell.

Dwain Clarke opened the scoring after 17 minutes from close range and the home side were only still in the game at half time thanks to a series of fine saves from keeper Dave Hyatt.

Within a minute of the restart Theo Kissi slid in to convert Peter Adeniyi's low cross and record his first goal for the club and five minutes later he added a spectacular second.

The Rooks eased off after that but with two minutes remaining a lovely ball from debutant Dean Clark, signed on loan from Conference side Woking, released Clarke and he lobbed the ball over Hyatt before heading home his second of the evening.
