Worthing conceding top spot in the Kent/Sussex Regional League after a 5-4 defeat away to new leaders Sevenoaks.

The visitors were always behind in a ding-dong clash which saw Dan Lock, Bryan Lock, David Beales and John Massie on target for Worthing.

Joint skipper Massie also missed a penalty with the score at 3-2.

Horsham's mini revival ended with a 4-1 defeat away to Maidstone. Dom Cohen got the consolation goal for a Horsham side hampered by illness and unavailability.

Goals from Simon Hobden and Mike Dovey were not enough for struggling Mid Sussex as they lost 4-2 at home to Herne Bay.

Eastbourne emerged triumphant from their top-of-the-table clash with Ashford in Kent/Sussex division one.

Richard Chilcott scored twice with drag flicks from short corners and Andy Edwards also found the net in a 3-0 win.

Skipper Flo Pietzsch said: "Everyone is riding high and hopefully we can keep the momentum going."

There were seven yellow cards in the game although Pietzsch felt the contest did not warrant them.

Southwick earned their first win since promotion with a 2-1 success away to Crawley.

The hosts went ahead after 15 minutes when a short corner by Keith Frimley rebounded off a post for Garry Hardwick to bury the rebound.

But Lee Wiles levelled for Southwick five minutes before half time and then bagged the winner in the 60th minute.

Crawley almost snatched a draw but Simon Rowe's 68th minute flick was turned over the bar by the Southwick keeper.

Dan Burnett netted for South Saxons in a 4-1 defeat at Old Williamsonians while Crowborough lost 4-0 at home to Kings College London, who have now gone second.

In the first round of the HA Trophy, Mid Sussex went down 3-0 at home to PHC Chiswick.

Man-of-the-match Steve Newton and skipper Andy Green both had good chances in what was an impressive display against higher league opposition. Keeper Greg Purdie saved a penalty flick.

Horsham conceded their tie against Hamble because they could not raise a side.
