The other night I narrowly avoided becoming yet another victim of Brighton and Hove City Council's parking policy.

Having returned home at 7pm, during controlled hours, to find no residents' spaces available in zone N, I parked on double yellow lines intent on moving to a space when the pubs closed and visitors departed.

By chance, I came out at 9.30pm to discover two wardens eyeing my car.

Late on a dark, wet and windy Sunday evening down the quiet back streets of Hove there were two operatives.

Any attempt to justify this as prudent traffic control is hollow.

These people were on the prowl for easy victims. This exploitation cannot be denied and the gloves are now off.

I intend to begin a campaign and call upon anybody who is a resident of Hove and has paid for a parking permit and been issued with a ticket within their own zone to contact me.

My objective is that any person who has a permit for a zone should not be penalised for parking within that zone.

I will never pay a parking ticket issued within my own zone unless it is fair and reasonable and I urge other residents to do likewise.

Similarly, if I see operatives on the prowl during domicile hours I will follow them and remove and destroy any unreasonable tickets they issue.
