Randy Duck has warned his Brighton Bears colleagues of the pitfalls of Europe.

The Bears skipper and point guard knows all about the top flight of the continental game.

He played five times in the Euroleague for Nick Nurse's London Towers three seasons ago with impressive statistics.

With 16.4 points per game and shooting percentages of 86 from the line and 60 from three-point range, Duck could be happy with his own efforts.

Yet even performances like that did not save Towers from nine defeats in ten games in the strongest competition outside the NBA.

The ULEB Cup is a step down from that but still pretty cut throat.

Duck emerged from last Saturday's defeat at Thames Valley and, asked about the Split game, warned: "If we play halfway like that we'll get beat by 50.

"These guys are no joke. They have realistic visions of going to the NBA.

"They are all 6ft 8ins, 6ft 9ins and can play every position.

"They run, they shoot, they defend, they guard and they run system over and over again.

"They will run it down your throat if you let them. They will keep their starters in to the last minute and try to embarrass you."

Kendrick Warren was also in that Towers squad, averaging 18 points and eight rebounds per game.
