It seems the plan to impose a bus lane on the A259 between Ovingdean and Peacehaven has been resurrected yet again.

Allegedly, this will be achieved without reducing the available road space for other traffic. One wonders how, especially if it is to be two-way.

As any fool knows, the routine peak-time congestion on the South Coast Road is caused by the Rottingdean traffic lights.

Before tens of thousands are spent on creating a bus lane, why not try replacing the traffic lights with a roundabout?

Such devices work reasonably well at the other major junctions on the Brighton/Newhaven stretch of the A259, including that with the A23 at the Palace Pier.
