Jamal Johnson completed a fantastic 78-point weekend to help Worthing Thunder into the EBL Trophy semi-finals.

Needing to win by six points at London United, Thunder raced into a 34-14 first-quarter-lead.

They maintained the momentum to win 91-78, claiming a place in the last four.

Johnson had 14 rebounds and helped steady Thunder when their hosts cut arrears to ten with three minutes to go.

Gaylon Moore had 26 and 15 for a depleted Worthing team, who had left themselves with all sorts of work to do after losing by six at home to United earlier in the season.

A 17-0 run in the opening period helped them make light of that task.

Thunder: Johnson 42, Moore 26, Gayle 12, Hildreth 6, Butterworth 5.

Thunders' league season is off and running after a first night 119-83 home win over Billy Hungrecker's Kingston Wildcats.

Johnson had 36 points and nine boards while Moore went for 29 and 19. Damien Harris claimed seven rebounds in his relatively brief time on court.

Former Worthing favourite Dwayne Martin had 23 points for Kingston.

Thunder: Johnson 36, Moore 29, Gayle 22, Butterworth 15, Harris 12, Hildreth 3, Brame 2.
