Music fans will get to grill famous names such as DJ Norman Cook as part of One Live in Brighton.

The Honeyclub in Kings Road Arches, Brighton, has been transformed into the One Live Cafe for the Radio One music festival, which starts today.

Most of the main musical genres will be represented at the cafe.

Steve Lamacq will teach indie kids how to record and package a demo properly, aspiring dance DJs can show their skills with a short set and would-be hip hop acts can get one-to-one feedback about their work.

There will also be a chance to grill famous faces, including Starsailor, hip hop guru Tim Westwood and Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.

One of the week's highlights will be the Pier Pressure quiz on Wednesday, with the likes of John Peel, Seb Fontaine and Jo Whiley squaring up to test their knowledge of pop music.

There will also be a chance for people looking to get into radio and TV to get hints and tips from those in the industry.

Caroline Dapre, executive producer at Radio 1, said: "The media can be quite impenetrable for someone on the outside and the cafe could provide that initial step for someone who wants to join the industry."

One Live Cafe is open from noon to 6pm every day until Sunday.
