Richard Allden (Letters, October 15) describes the land on which the proposed Falmer stadium is to be built as "green" and refers to its historic status as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
He also assures us that ramblers, bird watchers, cyclists and riders enjoy this part of our "lovely countryside".
As a participant in two of the pastimes cited by Mr Allden, I have to say the area around Falmer is not one which I choose to use.
The only time I go near it is to cross the A27 some way towards Lewes while passing by on the South Downs Way.
Falmer is not a green and lovely place and no amount of argument from the anti-stadium brigade will make it so.
Next time I want to walk, twitch, cycle or ride around a university or up a main road, perhaps I will see Mr Allden.
In the meantime, I will stand at Ditchling Beacon looking across at the ugly buildings around Falmer and dream of a time when the view will be of a beautiful stadium.
